Tuesday 7th April - bike **** - Felixstowe to Trimley Marshes – Sunny.

We are loving the glorious weather here in Suffolk and while we still can we will continue to get out on our bikes. Today after exercises in the garden plus a few jobs, Mag put in yet another small wildlife pond in a bucket, the Blackbirds and Sparrows love them:) We head out on our bikes heading down to Trimley Marshes, it is very pretty at the moment with the hedgerows full of white blossom! On reaching the end of Felixstowe docks we spot three huge metal towers over on the Shotley side and can only think it is a large platform used for installing windfarms moored up in the Stour but are not sure. We follow the River Orwell seawall and with the tide high it is quite odd that there are no boats out, the Harwich Authority have asked for no boats to use the Orwell and Stour during the pandemic but we did see one Yacht heading upriver! A nice breeze filled in making it nice for some foiling but for a strong tide now going out! We were lucky to see Avocets, Turn Stones, Shell Ducks and Godwits in the mud. Levington Lagoon soon emptied as we cycled around it, stopping quickly at Loompit lake full of geese chasing each other about. Then it was through the tree lined path back to Felixstowe seeing a large herd of deer, there must have been 30/40 in a tight huddle in their favourite spot in a field at Grimstone Lane:) Arriving home after cutting up loads of vegetables for tea we tucked into yummy rock cakes with our cuppa:)
